When I was asked to share my hair journey, I was a little hesitant but decided to go for it and shed some light on my condition.. alopecia. I know women shave their heads for different reasons, but believe me when I say, it hits a little different when you know it’ll never grow back. I’ll try and keep it short and sweet.
I have suffered in silence with this condition for many years wearing wigs and weaves as my crutch. In January of this year I decided that the weave I was wearing would be my last, I would shave my head. Once I made up my mind..it was a done deal. I decided to YouTube some videos of women who suffered as well for support and saw this as a sign.❤️ (very emotional, yet uplifting). Once I shaved my head, and although I wore a wig to work in the beginning (baby steps), it was truly a freeing experience! I then started wearing head wraps for awhile, and now I’m in ball caps lol (for me, it’s a process). I’m just about ready to rock this bald head in public! Watch out world!?
I can honestly say that I’m glad I did it…I feel so carefree now…wash and go. No more hair products, wigs/weaves etc. (and I’ve tried them all). I’m saving some $ and loving it!❤️
