This little guy, this beautiful baby, is Gabriel B. Taye when he when he was a toddler. He was born in 2008 and died in 2017. He was a victim of bullying and took his own life. We honored Gabe, with his mom’s permission, with a tribute gift given to her as part of our “We Remember You” project. Our vision is to honor this year at least 50 children who were lost. “Lost too soon” is an oxymoron when you’re speaking of babies and children. They haven’t had a chance to live their lives; to grow into the people that they could have been.
I’ve always been passionate about giving tribute gifts. It started with engraved frames and whenever I gave them, I felt as if I was leaving pieces of light around the world. They are always well received and it’s work that I can put my heart into. Gabe’s mom understood what I am doing and gave her full blessing. She sent pictures for me to choose from and it’s interesting to me how sometimes the pictures write the story. Out of four pictures, there was one with Gabe holding up the peace sign. Of course, I chose that one. When she received her gift, she wrote me:
Ms. Foster, Words can’t express how much this means to me. This is such a BEAUTIFUL tribute gift. On Feb 21st Gabriel will be 13. this couldn’t have come at a better time. When I travel, I take a picture of Gabe and sit it on my night stand. This will follow me wherever I go. This has made my day and I am so thankful you reached out to me. God bless you and the amazing work you’re doing to keep a smile on faces who have lost a loved one. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I will be honored to assist. 🧡🧡🧡
