Time Hasn’t Healed the Wound
The saying “time heals all wounds” is deceptive. Today marks 29 years since my big brother transitioned. The pain is still heavy for me. I’m still angry and I still miss him so much. Every time I hear the stories of young black males being killed by gun violence my...
Why I Relay?
Why I Relay? The short answer, I do it for Claudia. The long version begins early 2004 with a call from my sister, Claudia's doctor. I was being notified she'd been diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and had only 3 to 6 months to live. It hit me like a ton of...
To Alpha from Omega
I began writing this poem about a month after learning my sister, Claudia, had been diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. Through trepidation and tears I was able to finish roughly a month before she died. Thankfully I was able to share with her this tribute that...

Demetrius, My Heart…
It has been 27 years, 9 months, 28 days and 3 hours since I lost the most important person in my life, my son, Demetrius Cortez Broussard. Dee was a really funny person. He loved playing any part and whenever he saw an opening, he would jump in. My son once asked if...
I Am Not My Hair

Hi, there. Welcome!
I am a wife, mother, and dog owner. I spent the majority of my career in the financial field. I tapped into service work, hoping to send kids on service projects, but then Covid-19 happened. I had this whole site just sitting here and thought of doing nothing at all or doing something I’ve always wanted to without reservation. I could write; tell stories, mine and others. I could help others.
That’s how peopleeveryday.net came about. I’ve always been interested in other people’s stories. How did you get here? What happened then? What did you say; what did you do? Who helped you? Who hurt you? How did you find yourself again? What were the lessons learned? I’ve grown from my own experiences and from those of others.
I hope you will join me as I begin this creative journey…
